Miami Dolphins draft crushes: Missouri OL Armand Membou

The Miami Dolphins have some very big decisions to make, but perhaps none this entire offseason is as big as what they to do with the 13th overall pick in the 2025 NFl Draft, which gets underway on Thursday, April 25 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Miami still needs to find at least three starters this offseason - a guard, a cornerback, and a defensive tackle. Depth at safety - and likely a starter there as well - are also in play.

However, when I keep thinking about who I would like to see the Dolphins take at that spot if he's available, the same person keeps coming to mind.

The Miami Dolphins should select Missouri OL Armand Membou with the 13th overall pick - if he's still available.

This pick is a function of a number of things.  First, obviously, he's very talented and checks just about every box you could ask for that the Dolphins would be looking for.  He's big, physical, and very athletic.  His testing numbers at the Combine were jaw-dropping.  A 4.91 40, 1.73 10-yard split, 34" vertical, 9'7" broad jump, and 31 reps of 225 on bench press.  That converted into the top overall athleticism score of all offensive tackle prospects per NFL.com

Membou played right tackle in Missouri's offense, but he can still slide inside at guard at the NFL level.  That's where the Dolphins should play him, as Austin Jackson has shown his best work has come at right tackle. Membou also would give something that few other guards in this draft (outside of LSU OL Will Campbell) can provide: a backup plan or insurance at tackle in case 2024 second-round pick Patrick Paul - who is set to take over as the starting left tackle after Terron Armstead's recent retirement - doesn't work out.

In my mind, the Dolphins aren't going to go anywhere until they finally start to take their offensive line issues seriously and work to build a wall in front of Tua Tagovailoa. Miami's offense has been manhandled by physical, playoff-caliber defenses too often under Mike McDaniel's tenure.  Until that changes, nothing else is going to matter.

Membou is a player that could start to help turn that unfortunate trend around and is someone - if he's available at 13 - that I would have at the top of my draft board if I was Chris Grier.
