The Miami Dolphins are about to get the first look at their newest faces this weekend, with their rookie minicamp set to take place from May 9-11.  A couple of those rookies in attendance won't have to travel far to attend.

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, two former Miami Hurricanes will be in attendance at the Dolphins' rookie minicamp.

Former Miami Hurricanes WR Samuel Brown and C Zach Carpenter are tryout invitees at Miami Dolphins' rookie minicamp this weekend

Brown came to Miami in the 2024 offseason, but he didn't ultimately have a huge impact for the high-powered Miami Hurricanes offense.  With a healthy passing attack that centered around first-team All-American and Tennessee Titans UDFA signee Xavier Restrepo, second-round draft pick TE Elijah Arroyo (Seattle Seahawks), and Carolina Panthers UDFA signee Jacolby George, Miami's pass catching group was loaded with talent. Brown posted a 2024 stat line of 39 catches for 509 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Carpenter came to Miami from Indiana and helped protect Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward. Carpenter earned a Pro Football Focus offensive grade of 68.4 with a pass blocking mark of 81.3.  He allowed 16 pressures in 576 pass blocking snaps in 2024, per PFF.

While the Dolphins are looking to improve their depth at both WR and interior offensive line, it's a long shot for either one to get a chance to stick around beyond rookie minicamp. We'll see if either player can beat the odds this weekend.
