Michael Bisping paid a fantastic tribute to Ricky Hatton.
Earlier today, the news broke that one of the most popular sportsmen in British history has tragically passed away at the age of 46. His death was confirmed by Greater Manchester Police, who are not treating it as suspicious.
Whether it was his working-class background, explosive style or his sense of humor, there was something about the boxer that resonated so deeply with the British public, who all fell in love with what ‘The Hitman’ brought to the sport.
In the aftermath of the news, Bisping headed to social media to express his feelings on the heartbreaking situation.
Back in 2013, Michael Bisping visited Ricky Hatton at his gym for a pads session.
The video that was posted to the Hatton Boxing YouTube channel showcased ‘The Count’ punching the pads as his countryman gave him instructions, with the pair both enjoying the workout.
In a classy Instagram post, Bisping shared the clip with the caption: “Truly saddened and shocked by the passing of Ricky Hatton.
“I’ll never forget when I had a training session with him, all I was thinking was ‘That’s Ricky Hatton holding pads for me’. My thoughts are with his loved ones. RIP to a legend and a true Manchester icon.”
Of course, Bisping isn’t the only person who’s devastated by what’s transpired.
The entire combat sport community has been rocked by the loss of a genuine superstar.
In addition to the former UFC middleweight champion, Tyson Fury, Tom Aspinall and Jake Paul have given tributes to Hatton.
