Michigan State makes Mel Tucker termination letter public

Hall basically states that Tucker had an adequate amount of time to respond to the notice of firing with cause with legitimate reasons why he should not be and instead, he and his lawyers came up with a “litany” of excuses for his behavior. He went on to say that what he has done has damaged the reputation of the university and if he had never engaged in phone sex with the vendor (Tracy), Michigan State wouldn’t have ever come under fire like it has. It was due to his lack of judgment that Michigan State has to answer for this entire situation.

The whole letter is short and to the point and basically states that Tucker did not do enough in his response to the notice to warrant the halting of the termination process.

This is likely not the last we’re going to hear about this situation. Mel Tucker has a hearing on Oct. 5 during Michigan State’s bye week and that’ll be all over the headlines. Whatever is uncovered during that hearing will likely be used in some sort of lawsuit from the now-former head coach that his termination was not warranted. My best guess is that there’s going to be some sort of settlement between the two sides and they’ll move on.

It feels like this has honestly been a cloud hanging over East Lansing for months, but it’s only been a couple of weeks.

It’s time to move on.
