AC Milan face competition to sign River Plate forward Julian Alvarez after making an enquiry, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com reports that Milan have been watching the Argentine for some time and made an enquiry but were met with a demand from the Buenos Aires club of €25m, which is the release clause built into his contract.

For the time being, River Plate are enjoying having the 21-year-old as he scored a match-winning brace against Boca Juniors in the recent Superclasico, and he is now also a part of the Argentine national team which shows his growth.

In addition to Milan, the list of interested clubs is large, as Bayer Leverkusen, Tottenham, Ajax, Real Madrid, Sevilla and Borussia Dortmund are all keen, and now another Italian club can be added to the list in Inter.

It has been established that Alvarez can actually leave for €20m meaning his asking price has dropped, and a market derby could take place to land the talented winger.
