The Milwaukee Brewers are 81-50 and have the best record in Major League Baseball. In fact, no other team has even reached the 80-win mark yet. That being said, Milwaukee has not been trending in the right direction as of late.
Ever since their franchise record 14-game win streak, the Brewers have lost six of nine games and have seen the Chicago Cubs cut the National League Central Division lead to five games. On Monday, Milwaukee starts a four-game home series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, who are 64-67 on the season.
The hope, of course, is that the Brewers can right the ship and get back to winning games more consistently. Before the game, though, Milwaukee announced four roster moves, including placing oft-used relief pitcher Grant Anderson on the 15-day injured list with ankle tendonitis.
Noticeably missing from the transaction list, though, was the activation of star outfielder Jackson Chourio, who is currently on rehab assignment in Nashville.
Chourio has not played for the Brewers since being removed from their game on July 29. He strained a hamstring during that contest while legging out a standup triple. At first, the team did not think it was very serious, but further testing showed a strain and he was placed on the 15-day injured list.
It was only recently that Chourio was able to start a rehab assignment with the Nashville Sounds, Milwaukee’s Triple-A affiliate. He has only played three games down in the minors while on the assignment, but fans are anxious to get him back since the Brewers are on a bit of a skid since their 14-game win streak.
Manager Pat Murphy, though, says it is going to be a little while longer:
Jackson Chourio still has a few more days of rehab ahead of him in Nashville. He was tentative running last night when he doubled, according to Pat Murphy.

As one can see from the post above, Chourio was still running tentatively when he doubled in the Sounds’ game last night. This, obviously, is not the news that fans wanted to hear, but it is imperative that Milwaukee has Chourio 100% healthy for the postseason.
In the meantime, they will have to continue to rely on their other contributors to carry the offense.
