Minnesota's Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) team began their postseason defense of the Walter Cup under their new Frost moniker on Wednesday, but fell short 3-2 against the Toronto Sceptres in the first game of round one.

Minnesota got off to a slow start on Wednesday, quickly falling behind 3-0. It wasn't until late in the second period that Britta Curl scored the team's first goal. Katy Knoll found the back of the net early in the third period, but it was too little, too late, and they weren't able to find the decisive goal to tie things up, ultimately falling 3-2.

The Frost snuck into this year's playoffs as the fourth and final team, and they're now starting the best-of-five semifinal series against Toronto down one game to zero.

Game 2 will be on Friday night in Toronto at 6 p.m. CT, and then the series will head to the Xcel Energy Center for Game 3 on Sunday, May 11. Game 4 will be on Wednesday, May 14 and Game 5 will be on Friday, May 17, if necessary.
