The professional basketball dream has come true for Rasheer Fleming. With the No. 31 overall pick in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft, the former St. Joseph’s star forward was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves and subsequently traded to the Phoenix Suns.

The Camden, New Jersey native starred with the Hawks throughout his three seasons with the team. While they fell in the first round of the NIT, Fleming averaged 14.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists during this past season with St. Joseph’s.

Additionally, Fleming was a more-than-solid recruit. He played high school basketball at Camden (Camden, NJ), where he was a four-star prospect. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

As he moves to the next level, Fleming will be expected to continue to grow and elevate into a capable player in the NBA. After showcasing his skillset during his three seasons with St. Joseph’s, there’s no reason to think he can’t achieve that goal.

Time will tell what his ceiling is. Regardless, Rasheer Fleming will have a chance to not just be a good NBA player, but a great one, as he moves to the next level in this journey.

What NBA Draft experts are saying about Rasheer Fleming

Meanwhile, On3’s resident NBA Draft analyst James Fletcher III took a hard look at Rasheer Fleming. He’s enthusiastic about his potential, ranking him as an impressive No. 15 on his big board.

“Rasheer Fleming proved everything he could at the mid-major level, shooting the ball at a high level in a variety of roles while showcasing his ability to play defense,” Fletcher III wrote. “In a league which places big value on two-way wings and stretch forwards, he could quickly enter a rotation, even if he does not boast the potential upside of others.”

Additionally, Fletcher III is far from the only one grinning at the idea of seeing Fleming in the NBA. RotoWire.com made projections for many of the top prospects, and it’s evident they’re believers in his potential.

“Fleming fits a role as a modern 3-and-D big man that essentially every NBA team finds valuable,” RotoWire.com wrote. “He should be able to play center in small-ball lineups and power forward in standard configurations.

“That gives him sixth-man upside out of the gate. Depending on how his offensive game develops, Fleming shares similarities to players like Myles Turner, Larry Nance Jr. and Noah Vonleh.”
