With less than a month to go in the 2025 Minor League season, the Twins are giving Walker Jenkins some more time to play. Minnesota officially promoted the 20-year-old to Triple-A on August 25, putting him one step closer to the Majors.
The Twins officially promoted Walker Jenkins to Triple-A, where he’ll play just a few miles away from Target Field until he’s likely ready for the Major League level.
Jenkins, the fifth overall pick in 2023, hit .309/.426/.487 (.913 OPS) with seven home runs and 19 extra-base hits with Wichita (AA) this season. The 20-year-old only played in 61 games this season, 52 of which came in Double-A. He missed roughly two months of the year after sustaining an ankle injury in April.
It’s the second straight week that the Twins promoted a former first-rounder. Marek Houston, the team’s top pick this past July, was promoted to High-A Cedar Rapids last week.
As part of corresponding moves, the Twins released infielder Anthony Prato, a seventh-round pick by Minnesota back in 2019. Prato, who was in St. Paul, hit .259 with a .101 ISO this season.
Additionally, the Twins promoted Kyle Hess from High-A to Wichita. Hess, signed out of the Atlantic League in 2024, hit .231/.373/.363 (.736 OPS) with Cedar Rapids.
We covered one of the notable promotions made on August 25 during our Week 22 recap. Mets pitcher Will Watson was promoted to Double-A after a strong run in High-A Brooklyn.
The Mets made other moves, as outfielder John Bay and pitcher Irving Cota were promoted from Low-A to High-A. Cota, a 21-year-old right-hander, struck out 72 over 82 innings with St. Lucie.
Among other transactions, Astros catcher Jason Schiavone was transferred to High-A Asheville from Low-A. Schiavone was an 11th-round pick out of James Madison last year.
