As of now, and at least for a little while, the long-running and beloved animated comedy series, South Park, is no longer streaming on Paramount+ in global markets. That last part is key. As pointed out by The Hollywood Reporter, the licensing deal for South Park to stream on Paramount+ in markets outside of the U.S. has lapsed. But if you're in the U.S., you can still very much stream all 26 existing seasons of South Park pretty easily. Here's what's going on.
As of this writing, all 26 seasons of South Park are streaming on HBO Max. If you're outside of the U.S., this will be trickier to watch than before. But in the U.S., the whole show is still on HBO Max. For now
Now, technically, "South Park‘s domestic streaming deal also recently expired," according to Deadline. So, it's possible that the streaming state of South Park is in a temporary state of grace.
South Park's streaming problems are all connected to the ongoing negotiations in which Skydance will merge with Paramount Global. Basically, this merger will change the way Paramount operates in general, which will have impacts larger in small for various TV and film franchises.
Although it was originally set to premiere on July 9 on Comedy Central, South Park Season 27 is now set to begin on July 23, 2025.
"This merger is a sh*tshow and it's f*cking up South Park," creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have said of the delay.
But, as of this writing, the show will start airing on July 23 on Comedy Central. It remains to be seen where Season 27 will end up streaming after that.
