Coach Dowell Loggains and the Mountaineers have come into the state of Alabama and landed a commitment from Jermaine McCree.

McCree attends Williamson High School in Mobile, Alabama. He previously held offers from Florida State, Texas A&M, South Alabama, Troy and others.

The Mobile product said the Appalachian State staff has made him feel like a priority.

“From the beginning, coach Loggains was determined to land my commitment,” McCree said. “He showed me I was a priority, which meant a lot to me. No matter if it is offense (wide receiver) or defense (cornerback), he told me I would contribute early due to my special skill set.”

The relationship between McCree and Appalachian State paid dividends for the Mountaineers.

“Everyone on the coaching staff made me feel like App State is my home,” said McCree. “Coach Fuller (Defensive Back Coach) really does not talk football but more about how he can prepare me for the next level and make me the best version of myself. Coach Coleman (Assistant DB Coach) and I have a great relationship. He has always been upfront and honest with me. I can ask him his opinion on anything and I trust he will give me an honest answer.”

The recent visit to App State also helped lock in McCree’s commitment.

“App State fans and students live, sleep and breathe football here,” McCree told Touchdown Alabama. “The atmosphere around the program is very attractive. It is good to see the community buying in and pouring into all of the athletic programs. Coach Loggains has been developing a special culture there and I am blessed to be a part of it.”
