More details are emerging on the agreement between Napoli and Manchester United for Rasmus Hojlund, which would be a loan with option to buy for €45m, becoming an obligation if certain conditions are met.

Sky Sport Italia reported today that there was a significant breakthrough in negotiations, as both the player accepted the salary package, and the Premier League side opened up to the formula.

That is a loan with option to buy at the end of the season, with the total fee expected to be around €45m, as cited by Alfredo Pedullà.

Conditions for Hojlund loan to become obligation

The difference here is that it could become an obligation if certain conditions are met.

Usually, these conditions are club targets, such as qualifying for the Champions League.

In this case, Sport Mediaset maintain the conditions are a set number of goals and appearances by Hojlund for Napoli.

If the €45m fee is confirmed, that is still a huge drop from the €77m plus €10m bonuses that Manchester United paid to buy the Dane from Atalanta in August 2023.

Napoli had to do the deal very quickly, as while Hojlund had previously been linked with Milan, the Partenopei acted only after Romelu Lukaku was ruled out for three to four months by injury.
