National media outlet makes lackluster bowl game prediction for the Tennessee Vols

With just a few weeks to go until the start of the 2024 season, 247Sports released their latest bowl game predictions. 

And their prediction for the Tennessee Vols is one that UT fans likely won't be happy with. 

247Sports has Tennessee playing Iowa in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa. 

Tennessee last played in the ReliaQuest Bowl to cap off the 2015 season. The Vols beat Northwestern 45-6 in that matchup. 

Tennessee almost certainly won't be playing Iowa in the ReliaQuest Bowl this season

This is one prediction that I'm extremely confident that 247Sports will get wrong.

And it's not because I think they're disrespecting Tennessee by leaving them out of the College Football Playoff. Not every playoff contender will earn a spot in the dance. Someone has to be left out. 

Instead, it's because there's no chance that the ReliaQuest Bowl will want to pair Tennessee and Iowa together after the two programs played last season in the Citrus Bowl. The last thing any bowl game wants is a rematch of a bowl game from the previous season. 

Tennessee may end up playing in the ReliaQuest Bowl this season -- we have no clue how things will play out in 2024. But if they do, it almost certainly won't be against Iowa.
