Nation's No. 1 Linebacker Responds To Georgia's Major Recruiting Win

Head coach Kirby Smart's Georgia Bulldogs are in the midst of a recruiting surge after landing another blue-chip player on Wednesday.

Smart has led his alma matter to nine straight top-five classes, and appears to be in the hunt for another top class in the 2026 cycle. The latest domino to fall came in an announcement from four-star wide receiver Ryan Mosley.

Mosley (6-foot-4, 206 pounds) pledged to the Bulldogs as an in-state product out of Carrollton High School. He is rated as the No. 27 wideout and the No. 23 player in the state of Georgia (247Sports composite).

After catching 31 passes for 471 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore, Mosley broke out with 55 receptions for 848 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior in 2024.

Mosley is the third wide receiver to commit to Georgia this cycle and the 10th player to join the class. After announcing his decision on Wednesday, Mosley commented on the original social media post, writing "I'm home."

And just a few comments down, five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson joined Mosley in celebration by leaving the fire emoji.

Atkinson is another in-state target that the Bulldogs have prioritized.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound linebacker helped lead Grayson High School to a Georgia 6A state championship in a 14-1 season as a junior. Atkinson totaled 166 tackles, (32 for loss) with 13 sacks, an interception and a forced fumble.

Atkinson is rated as the No. 1 linebacker, the No. 1 player in the state and the No. 9 overall recruit.

The Bulldogs have long been linked to Atkinson, potentially the next great Georgia linebacker. Smart and Co. have produced three Butkus Award winners during his nine seasons at the helm.

Atkinson – projected to become a Bulldog by On3, 247Sports and Rivals – has yet to make his decision.

He unofficially visited Georgia, Miami and Ohio State last year before camping at UGA earlier this year. Atkinson has an official visit slated to Clemson this weekend and is expected to schedule more visits over the summer months.

With Mosley in the fold, the Bulldogs currently hold the nation's No. 5 class.
