NBA Teams Now Have Just 24 Hours to Match Offers to Restricted Free Agents

NBA teams with players who enter restricted free agency will have just 24 hours to match an offer sheet from a rival team, as part of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, per Adrian Wojnarowski and Bobby Marks of ESPN.

Previously, teams had 48 hours to match an offer given to one of their restricted free agents.

The league and players union agreed to a new seven-year labor deal on Friday, with an opt-out clause after year six.

Last offseason, for instance, the Suns waited the full two days to match a Pacers offer to center Deandre Ayton, then a restricted free agent. Phoenix would have had to match it quicker under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Along with that, per Wojnarowski and Marks, the sides agreed to a 10 percent increase in qualifying offers for restricted free agents.
