New Champions League Season On The Horizon – Can Inter Milan Break 16-Year Drought?

Inter Milan head into the 2025/26 season with renewed ambition, aiming to end a long-standing Champions League drought.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri will try to lift the trophy for the first time since 2010.

Inter have failed to win the most prestigious European competition since Jose Mourinho’s triumph 15 years ago.

However, they’ve reached two grand finals in the past three years, most recently losing to Paris Saint-Germain last season.

Inter Milan Seek Champions League Glory in 2025/26

Simone Inzaghi couldn’t conquer the tournament despite coming agonizingly close twice.

Yet, the Italian is now part of San Siro history, with Cristian Chivu taking over the reins in June.

Despite lacking experience in top-flight management, the 44-year-old is intimately familiar with Champions League glory.

Indeed, he was part of Mourinho’s team that stunned Bayern Munich in the Madrid final.

Therefore, Chivu brings a winning mentality to Inter, hoping to translate his past European success as a player into managerial triumphs.

Although he faces stern competition, it’s impossible to write the Nerazzurri off before the kick-off.
