Many Notre Dame football fans weren’t sure to expect from former Arizona State defensive back Jordan Clark when he transferred over prior to the 2024 season. A veteran in the college football world, Clark was an incredibly experienced player. He was a multi-year starter for the Sun Devils, and brought a really interesting floor to the table for their nickel position.

Despite that floor, Clark exceeded a lot of expectations that Fighting Irish fans had set. He quickly became a tremendous asset to one of the best secondaries in all of college football. Looking back on Clark’s career, he got the most out of his talent level. He ended his stops with Arizona State and Notre Dame with 176 total tackles, four interceptions, 22 pass breakups, and nine tackles for loss.

With his college career behind him, the 5-9, 180-pound nickel is now trying to make his mark. Clark did not hear his name called during the 2025 NFL Draft, which wasn’t a massive surprise. Clark wins based on his football IQ and feel for the game, but isn’t the most dynamic athlete. If he’s gong to find a roster spot on the next level, it’s going to come down to dependability and consistency.

The New York Jets picked Clark up as an undrafted free agent, and entered a very interesting opportunity. While Sauce Gardner is one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL, the Jets secondary isn’t a great group. Clark enters a competition in the nickel room where Michael Carter II is currently projected to be the starter. Isaiah Oliver is working behind him.

While Clark won’t compete to be a starter in 2025, there is a chance that he could earn his way onto the roster. The early feedback has been very positive for Clark, and folks around the Jets have been happy with him so far. It’ll be interesting to see if Clark does make a strong hold on the roster.

On top of the experience that Clark brings to the table, he also carries himself like a professional. That makes sense considering he is the son of former NFL standout safety Ryan Clark. His father spent 13 years in the NFL from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington Redskins, and New York Giants. We will see if Clark can follow in his father’s footsteps, and latch on to a roster spot and an NFL career.
