The New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers have checked in on Malik Beasley, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Beasley is no longer a target of the federal gambling investigation conducted by the Eastern District of New York, according to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN.

Beasley played for the Detroit Pistons last season. He averaged 16.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.1 blocks while shooting 43.0% from the field, 41.6% from beyond the arc and 67.9% from the free-throw line.

Beasley, 28, has played for the Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks and Pistons. He has career averages of 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.1 blocks in the NBA.

“Months after this investigation commenced, Malik remains uncharged and is not the target of this investigation,” Beasley’s agent, Steve Haney, told ESPN. “An allegation with no charge, indictment or conviction should never have the catastrophic consequence this has caused Malik. This has literally been the opposite of the presumption of innocence.”

Beasley has appeared in 43 postseason games with the Nuggets, Timberwolves, Lakers, Bucks and Pistons, compiling averages of 7.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.3 steals and 0.1 blocks. He made the conference finals with the Lakers in 2023.

The Knicks lost to the Indiana Pacers in the conference finals in six games last season, while the Cavaliers lost to the Pacers in the conference semifinals in five games.
