Heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, Maimi's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders have cleared the way as the top two quarterback prospects available to select.
With several teams thought to need a quarterback change picking within the top-10, including the Tennessee Titans (No. 1), Cleveland Browns (No.2), New York Giants (No. 3), Las Vegas Raiders (No. 6), New York Jets (No. 7), and New Orleans Saints (No.9), there's a chance each could be taken very early.
However, there's still quite a bit of debate on who's between the two, and in a recent article posted by ESPN, seven voters, made up of NFL executives, coaches, and scouts, made their choice.
In the end, Ward barely came out on top, receiving four votes to Sanders' three.
"The experience, arm talent, decision-making ... I think he has a nice package," one AFC area scout who voted for Ward to ESPN. "Overall, I think he's the top prospect and should be the first [quarterback] off the board."
The numbers from 2024 also suggest that Ward was just a bit better, completing 305-of-454 passes for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 172.2 passing efficiency rating.
Sanders, on the other hand, completed 353-of-477 passes for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, 10 interceptions and a 168.2 passing efficiency rating.
