Is it over? Are we done criticizing Jalen Hurts?

NFL players appear to have made their voices heard on how they feel about the Philadelphia Eagles' signal-caller. The latest update on the top 100 players in the NFL was released, with Hurts checking in at number 19. This represents a slight decline after being ranked 15th last year.

"After a crushing collapse at the end of the 2023 season, Hurts and the Eagles used their disappointing finish as motivation for the 2024 campaign, and that fire and determination led them all the way back to the Super Bowl, this time sealing the deal on the biggest stage. The 40-22 drubbing of Kansas City kicked off early behind Hurts’ two passing touchdowns and one rushing TD, a performance which resulted in a Super Bowl MVP. Only the fifth QB in NFL history to start multiple Super Bowls before his 27th birthday, per NFL Pro, Hurts has certainly earned his place on this ranking with his playoff results."

Is Hurts' ranking justifiable?

Despite the constant whining about the lack of pass attempts made by Hurts, he still had a stellar season as the quarterback for the Eagles. He only threw five interceptions off of 361 pass attempts while hitting career highs in completion percentage (68.7%) and passer rating (103.7).

There's the rushing aspect to his game as well as he had 630 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. Again, a lot of people want to contribute his rushing success to the Tush Push, but he rushed for over 600 yards and not all of those yards were from one-yard out.

It's a great thing to hear the players in the NFL indirectly speak out in support of Hurts and still rank him among the top 20 best players in the league. This is an appropriate ranking for him and there is hope in the next year or so that he will be able to move up.

There could be an argument that he should have been higher than last year, since he threw 15 interceptions in 2023 and had his worst season of his career. 2024 was a massive step up from 2023, so should he have moved up from last year's 15th ranking?

At this point, Eagles fans are willing to take any victory in all debates involving Hurts. This is a good win for the Super Bowl MVP.
