There's no doubt that in his 28 years as a college football head coach, Nick Saban has earned a reputation of excellence, winning seven national championships and putting together a 297-71-1 record.
However, despite still putting together a great season year after year, he retired following the Alabama Crimson Tide's 2023 season, and his since started appearing on ESPN's "College GameDay."
On Friday, though, his alma mater, the Kent State Golden Flashes, where he played defensive back from 1970-1973 and got his coaching start as a graduate assistant, fired head coach Kenni Burns after putting together an abysmal 1-23 record in the past two years.

Now, many social media users are urging Saban, in what is mostly just a joke, to return to where it all started and take over as Kent State's new head coach.
"Legitimately one of the worst division 1 football teams I’ve ever seen. Nick Saban cmon home, boy !" said one X user.
"Mama's calling, Nick. Head back to Kent State and create a dynasty," said another.
"Just enough time to gather up enough money to hire Nick Saban," a third added.
A fourth stated, "Wholeheartedly endorsing Saban to take the Kent State job."
"I heard Nick Saban is available," a fifth continued.
"Nick Saban has a chance to do the funniest thing ever..." said another.
Of course, it's a completely unrealistic scenario, especially considering there haven't even been rumors that Saban would return to any higher-level programs. so most comments about.
