Over the years that the WNBA has been a beacon for young women’s basketball players to live out their professional basketball dreams and make an impact, very few of them have had the impact that former South Carolina Gamecock and Aces’ three-time league MVP A’ja Wilson has been able to make in just eight years.
Wilson’s career has taken her to the heights of some of the greats in sports history. This season is no different for Wilson. She leads her team scoring 22.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists, lifting the Aces up in the standings and into possibly playoff contention.
Over the weekend, in a post-game interview following a win over the Washington Mystics, Wilson confirmed some news regarding South Carolina and Nike.
The University of South Carolina will begin a partnership with Nike for starting in 2025. Nike will start providing uniforms for 21 of the school’s athletic teams with official team merchandise launching in July 2026.
“We are thrilled to announce the future partnership with Nike, a brand that is built on inspiring athletes to reach for excellence with the latest and most innovative equipment and attire while championing the values of athletic participation, beginning in July 2026,” USC Athletics Director Jeremiah Donati said.
According to Lulu Kesin, the Gamecocks will receive Nike-branded A’ja Wilson merchandise, including the A’Two, Wilson’s signature shoe with Nike in exclusive USC colorways that the women’s basketball team will wear during basketball games.
Nike could possibly be adding some additional Wilson-branded travel and team merchandise during the partnership.
A’ja Wilson has cemented her legacy at South Carolina as one of the program’s all-time greats with the accolades to back it up.
