NJPW confirms that Mercedes Moné suffered an injury at NJPW Resurgence.

At NJPW Resurgence on May 21, Moné competed in a one-night tournament to crown the inaugural NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion. Moné defeated Stephanie Vaquer in the opening round and lost to Willow Nightingale in the finals. Near the end of the match, Moné suffered an apparent injury, and she was carried to the back after the match.

In a post on their official website, NJPW confirmed the injury and wished Moné well. The company noted that Moné sustained an injury to her right ankle, and she began treatment after she “underwent a thorough appraisal of her injury” after the match. NJPW then wished Moné a full and fast recovery.

As of this writing, it’s unclear how long Moné will be out of action. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.

Moné commented on her injury in a post on Twitter. Click here to see what she had to say.
