The Nebraska Cornhuskers women's basketball team fell short of an upset against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday, losing 72-61 at McCamish Pavilion.
Following the win, the 17th-ranked Yellow Jackets remain undefeated this season, moving to 13-0 overall. The 23rd-ranked Huskers fall to 10-2.
The Huskers trailed 49-35 heading into the fourth quarter and scored 26 points in a comeback attempt in the final frame but it wasn't enough to squeak by with the non-conference win.
Nebraska outscored Georgia Tech 42-40 in the second half and cut the lead down to eight points multiple times but couldn't get over that mark.
All-America candidate Alexis Markowski led Big Red with her fifth double-double of the season, putting up 20 points and 10 rebounds in the effort. Britt Prince had a career-high eight rebounds along with seven points and three assists and Logan Nissley contributed 11 points in the contest.
Dani Carnegie led the Yellow Jackets with 20 points, including four three-pointers off the bench in the first half. Kara Dunn had a double-double for Georgia Tech (16 points and 14 rebounds) and Chazadi Wright contributed 15 points.
The Huskers were ultimately doomed by poor shooting early on, as they finished hitting a 34.3% clip from the floor for the game and 26.1% (6-for-23) from deep.
Nebraska will next take on No. 1-ranked UCLA in a Big Ten matchup on Dec. 29 at 4 p.m. CT in Los Angeles.
