Second-ranked Arkansas (27-3) secured a 7-4 win over Grambling (10-17) on Tuesday night. A pivotal four-run third inning provided the Razorbacks with the momentum needed to maintain control, extending their record to 12-2 at the home of the Arkansas Travelers.

McGuire Makes an Impact in First Start

Sophomore right-hander Tate McGuire made his collegiate starting debut and delivered an efficient performance, pitching four innings while allowing one run on one hit. He recorded a career-best four strikeouts and set a steady pace for the Razorbacks. His performance secured his first career win and helped Arkansas establish an early advantage.

Key Third Inning Sparks Arkansas Offense

Arkansas took the lead in the first inning with a sacrifice fly by Brent Iredale, but Grambling responded in the third to tie the game at 1-1. The Razorbacks countered quickly with a four-run surge in the bottom half of the inning.

The offensive push began with a leadoff triple from Charles Davalan, followed by an RBI single from Wehiwa Aloy. Carson Boles played a critical role in the rally, delivering a two-run single to left field. A wild pitch allowed another run to score, capping off the decisive inning and giving Arkansas a 5-1 advantage.

Standout Performances at the Plate

Several Razorbacks contributed to the offensive effort. Wehiwa Aloy finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Kuhio Aloy recorded a 2-for-4 outing with a run and an RBI. Davalan’s 2-for-5 performance included a triple and two runs scored. Boles led the team with a career-high three RBIs.

Bullpen Closes the Door

Following McGuire’s start, the Arkansas bullpen combined for five innings, allowing three runs while recording seven strikeouts. Colin Fisher, Dylan Carter, and Cole Gibler shared relief duties, with Gibler closing out the game in dominant fashion by striking out the side in the ninth inning to earn his first collegiate save.

Looking Ahead

Arkansas, now 8-1 in SEC play, returns to conference competition this weekend with a home series against Missouri (10-17, 0-9 SEC) at Baum-Walker Stadium. The series opener is scheduled for Friday, April 4, at 7 p.m. on SEC Network as the Razorbacks aim to continue their strong start to the season.
