After Bill Belichick agreed to become the next head coach of the North Carolina football program, the team didn't waste time in embracing the legendary NFL coach.

Not only did the Tar Heels post multiple "Welcome" messages for the former New England Patriots tactician, but they also approved Belichick's new nickname that quickly became popular after his hiring.

On Instagram, the UNC football account shared an edited video of Belichick in "Family Guy." After the animated version of Belichick met Peter Griffin and crew and asked who they are, the video transitioned to clips of the coach and the Tar Heels after Griffin answered, "We are North Carolina football."

The caption of the post also stood out, though, as the Tar Heels wrote, "Chapel Bill."

It's certainly a perfect and fitting reference. As fans would know, it's a play on "Chapel Hill," where the university is located.

"Chapel Bill" trended online following news of Belichick's move, and the team was quick to approve it.

Sure enough, it will be interesting to see how Bill Belichick transforms North Carolina and makes his mark on the team. Under Mack Brown last season, the Tar Heels finished with a 6-6 record, including 3-5 in conference play.

Initial reports indicated that Belichick signed a three-year, $30 million deal, although North Carolina later announced in an official release that it's a five-year contract.

Belichick brings a Hall-of-Fame résumé to UNC, highlighted by the six Super Bowl titles he won with the Patriots. That being said, hopes are high that his success at the top level also translates to the collegiate ranks.
