With National Signing Day only being less than three weeks away, the Notre Dame recruits in the 2024 class are gearing up to sign on the dotted line and make things official. For cornerback commit Karson Hobbs, this has been a day that he has been waiting for a long time now. This is merely a symbol of a new chapter beginning, and hard work continuing.
“It’s a dream come true,” Hobbs told Irish Breakdown. “I just have to thank God and keep working. I’m just excited to see what I can end up bringing to the family. It’s a long wait but every single day I think about the quicker the signing day, the quicker I get to go home. I’m excited.”
Hobbs has it all planned out already. His family is going to be putting together a celebration that night, but first things get kicked off at Archbishop Moeller; the school that has helped him develop his impressive skills on the field.
“We’re going to go to the gym,” he explained. “We’re going to dress up and the media and everyone will be there. With Notre Dame, we have some zoom meetings coming up about what to expect. We have a lot of talks and on the home visits they are going to talk to us as well. It’ll be nice.”
This will also be a chance for the 2024 Notre Dame class to celebrate together. It has been a group that has had very little drama, and has built a deep bond. The vibes, and conversations have continued to be high level for Hobbs and the others.
“They’re always really good,” Hobbs explained. “I don’t think we have ever had any controversy. We just all click. Like me and Logan (Saldate) the first time we ever met. We FaceTime every day now. That’s my boy. I just like the fact that you know these are the people that you can bond with so quickly and imagine the bond and family you are going to have over the course of four years. It’s truly a family and it’s great to have.”
After a very successful senior season, which included a 10-5 record and several big plays on the back end, Hobbs has fully turned his attention to his next chapter. He intends to make an early impact with the Irish, and help take the program to the next level.
“I want to actually get playing time early,” he said. “I know a lot of people have opinions, or what not but I’m going to go in there and give it my best shot to compete and work my butt off to get playing time. That’s my goal, to not have to redshirt and help the team win.”
