Notre Dame landed a huge commitment last night when Aledo (Texas) High School wide receiver Kaydon Finley pledged to the Fighting Irish. Landing Finley was a must for the Notre Dame staff, who needed a big time pass catcher on the outside in this class.

Following the commitment the Irish Breakdown staff got together to dive into this commitment. You can watch the full show here:

You can listen to the podcast version of the show here:

Here is a rundown of the show:

*** We kicked things off talking about how important this commitment was for Notre Dame, especially wide receivers coach Mike Brown. It's a recruiting win that has a huge impact on the depth chart, but it also has a major perception impact. It's the kind of recruiting victory Brown needs to get some much-needed momentum at the position.

*** Next we move into the class impact, and this commitment was massive in a number of ways. To begin, landing Finley gets Notre Dame closer to meeting its numbers need. We also break down how important it was for Notre Dame to land a go-to, impact, No. 1 caliber wide receiver. Finley certainly gives Notre Dame that kind of player.

*** After the impact discussion we move into a film breakdown. We go through Finley's junior highlights and show what makes him such an impact recruit. Finley has very impressive physical skills, but he's also a smart football player that knows how to play the game intellectually.

*** The final segment of the show looks at what's next for Notre Dame at wide receiver and in the class as a whole. Arizona wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald and Texas wideout Brayden Robinson will make their college decisions known on July 5th and July 6th, respectively. That means we won't have to wait long to know how the wide receiver class fills out.
