Another day and another commitment for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the 2026 class. Yesterday, Notre Dame landed a pledge from 6-5, 225-pound tight end Ian Premer. This was a big one for Notre Dame, who landed not only their top tight end on the board, but also one of the nation's best all-around players.

After his commitment, the Irish Breakdown team got together to break down the decision by Premer, who's decision was a bit of a surprise. You can watch the full video here:

Here is a rundown of the show:

*** After discussing how huge this commitment was for Notre Dame we dove into the back story. This was a bit of a shocker for Notre Dame, who put a lot of effort into landing Premer. Heading into the day of his unexpected commitment the sentiment in the recruiting world was that Premer would pick Kansas State or Iowa State, two programs that are much closer to his home in Great Bend, Kansas. In this part of the video we break down how this came to be and what Notre Dame's message was to Premer that ultimately sealed the deal.

*** In part two of the show we dive into the Class Impact. At the beginning we talk about his overall fit into the class. Next we talk about the need for two tight ends in the class, with Premer being the second commit after Preston Fryzel committed earlier in the week. Notre Dame was also looking for a specific type of player in this class, and Premer fits that criteria as well thanks to his outstanding all-around game. Landing Premer is also a huge perception boost for Notre Dame due to his high recruiting ranking. The more Notre Dame lands big time players the more momentum the staff builds in the 2026 class.

*** In part three of the video we break down Premer's film. We show on film why he's such a dominant player, how he fits into the offense and why he's so highly regarded. We also watched a little bit of his basketball film, which also shows off his athleticism and athletic instincts.

*** In the final part of the show we discuss what's next for Notre Dame with recruiting tight ends and how the staff wants to finish the 2026 class.
