Notre Dame men’s basketball added an impressive recruit this week.
Micah Shrewsberry’s Fighting Irish program earned a commitment from top prospect Jalen Haralson, a five-star prospect in 247 Sports’ rankings. Haralson plays his high school ball for powerhouse La Lumiere in La Porte, Indiana. Ranked as the No. 13 overall player in the class of 2025, Haralson becomes the highest-ranked player to ever commit to Notre Dame since internet prospect rankings arrived.
He chose the Irish over Michigan State and Indiana, among many other programs that recruited him.

Haralson is a 6-foot-7 small forward. ESPN ranks him as the No. 10 overall player in the senior class.
“This decision was very hard, took a long time. But, I’ll be taking my talents to..” Haralson said live on 247 Sports’ YouTube channel before unzipping his jacket to reveal a Notre Dame shirt.
How about Micah Shrewsberry and Notre Dame on the recruiting trail? Five-star prospect Jalen Haralson, a 6-7 wing ranked #13 in the 247 Sports 2025 composite rankings, has committed to the Fighting Irish over Michigan State and Indiana. That’s a huge win for the future of @NDmbb.

Notre Dame has made just one NCAA Tournament since 2017. Last year was year one of the Shrewsberry era, and the Irish finished 13-20 overall and 7-13 in ACC play. The former Penn State head coach will now look to Markus Burton, Matt Allocco, Tae Davis, Kebba Njie and others for production this year. His son Braeden Shrewsberry is a projected starter as well for the Irish.
