It's been a historic season of college football thanks to conference realignment, and we are finally getting to the main course, with the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff kicking off on Friday night with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish hosting the Indiana Hoosiers in the first round.
This will be a highly intriguing matchup as we look to see whether the Fighting Irish or Hoosiers can dissuade the notion that they are a product of their schedule more than anything else.
It's the first game in a long weekend of football, and it projects to be a thrilling matchup of styles.
The Fighting Irish announced on Friday that they will be bringing some style to the field, as well, unveiling some new uniforms for the big game.

Notre Dame is busting out some new blue uniforms with gold trim, fit with the ND logo on the shoulders, and gold trim throughout. The uniforms also have the new "College Football Playoff First Round" patch on the front, and a Notre Dame logo on the back above the nameplate.
With the blue tops, Notre Dame will be sporting the classic gold helmets, with the College Football Playoff logo on the back.
It is unclear what pants the Irish will be wearing, but they typically go with a gold look, though at times they've worn all blue, or white on the bottom.
We don't yet know what Indiana is going to be wearing for this game in South Bend, but the Fighting Irish are going to bring the heat at home. Notre Dame is favored by 7 points in this game that kicks off at 8 p.m. ET and will be aired on ABC.
