The Oclean X Pro Digital is a sonic electric toothbrush designed to integrate seamlessly into the tech-savvy user's lifestyle. Boasting a sophisticated design and a robust set of features, it promises to improve your dental care without breaking the bank like some toothbrushes seem to do these days.

Let's dig into this brilliant little toothbrush.

Design and Build

Priced at approximately £99, the Oclean X Pro Digital represents solid value, with usual discounts lowering the price even further. The standard bundle comes with one plaque control brush head and a delicate clean brush head, and additional heads or a travel case can be purchased separately.

Replacement heads are available on the Oclean website at very reasonable prices. The toothbrush boasts a powerful Maglev motor that delivers up to 84,000 movements per minute and includes customizable brushing modes—such as Clean, Gum Care, and Whitening—to suit various brushing preferences. It also features three intensity settings, a 0.96-inch color touchscreen for easy navigation, and a USB-C charging port, which modernizes the charging experience by eliminating the need for traditional shaver socket adapters.

It's a beautiful design, with a modern, forward looking aesthetic. Its variety of color options including silver, gold, purple, and blue, and the sleek finish contribute to a stylish and premium user experience.

The toothbrush's color touchscreen interface makes it easy to scroll through different modes and settings, while the magnetic wall mount prevents water build-up, removing the mess you usually get where you keep your brush - and it looks brilliant. While a travel case is available as an optional extra, it isn't able to charge the toothbrush, which is a bit of a shame.

Let's Talk Performance

Employing a Maglev motor, the Oclean X Pro Digital delivers a powerful cleaning action with 84,000 movements per minute. This number doesn't mean a lot to me, I have to admit. But it feels like it's powerful.

The morning mode eases you into the day with a 2-minute setting on a slightly lower intensity. In the evening, you can set it to go 30 seconds longer on a higher power to make sure you're removing any build-up from the day.

There are further settings as well, allowing you to create a completely custom mode depending on what you like through the accompanying app (available on iOS and Android). Modes like a gum massaging and brace cleaning are available, and each can be tailored to your preferences. If you do build a custom setup, however, only can be uploaded to the brush at a time, alongside the morning and evening modes.

It should be noted that it hasn't got a pressure sensor. But honestly, I find these completely stupid anyway, so you're not missing out on much.

It is a quiet toothbrush, with it staying under 60dB while in use. But it's the battery that completely sells this to me. the 800mAh battery will allow it to clean for a month before it needs to be placed on the charger again. And a full charge only takes 3 hours.

App Functionality and Smart Integration

The Oclean app extends the functionality of the toothbrush by enabling detailed customization and providing feedback on brushing habits. However, the app's complex layout and occasional connectivity issues did detract from the seamless smart device experience I expected.

I thought the app was formatted nicely, and while I think users who are less tech-savvy may be a little overwhelmed by all of this, for us who get nerdy about this stuff, there's plenty to play with. For example, keeping tabs on where you've cleaned and haven't cleaned quite as well is all there to look at, and it can even sync this data to Apple Health on iOS.

Of course, to use this feature, it asks for a lot of information. And some users won't want to fill in a form to use their toothbrush. If that's the case, then I'd avoid all modern toothbrushes and stick to something more manual.

Pros and Cons

Advantages

  • Stylish design with multiple color options that suit various personal preferences.
  • Long-lasting battery that supports up to a month of use on a single charge, ideal for less frequent charging.
  • Diverse and customizable brushing modes cater to a wide range of dental needs and preferences.

Disadvantages

  • The lack of a pressure sensor could lead to improper brushing techniques.
  • Some users may find the app's interface cluttered and less intuitive, which could hinder the tracking and improvement of brushing habits.
  • The accuracy of the mouth quadrant display sometimes falls short, which might lead to uneven cleaning.

Pricing

At a retail price of £99, occasionally reduced on platforms like Amazon, the Oclean X Pro Digital presents a competitive option in the premium electric toothbrush market.

Its price-point is justified by its advanced features and design, but the lack of a pressure sensor may put some of you off. I really don't see it as an issue, however.

The battery life is the selling point here, though. Lasting a month, it gives you one less thing to worry about. And while the app may be a bit of a pain to use for some, you can use this brush simply, enjoying the power it offers instead.

Should You Buy?

It's so difficult to give recommendations on toothbrushes, but yes, I think this is a well-priced toothbrush that has plenty to offer most people.

If you're not a fan of having more tech in your toothbrush than a car from the early 200s, then you're probably on the wrong website. But if you want functionality, power, and a good looking brush at a good price, then this is the one for you.

Buy direct from the Oclean website.
