Ohio State Buckeyes star sophomore wide receiver Jeremiah Smith has wowed college football fans since his first game with the Buckeyes last season. Smith was the No. 1 player in the 2024 high school class, according to 247Sports, and has not disappointed since going to college.
As a true freshman last year, Smith earned first-team All-America honors after shattering Ohio State receiving records.
His play has only gotten better as a sophomore in 2025, as Smith has been a big part of Ohio State's 4-0 start to the year. On Saturday, in the Buckeyes' matchup against the Washington Huskies, Smith reached a career milestone early in his career.
The Ohio State football team announced on its X account that Smith eclipsed the 100-reception mark for his career. Smith achieved this incredible feat in just 20 career games, as he finished Saturday's 24-6 victory over Washington with 104 career receptions.
"They just keep coming for JJ The Sophomore wide receiver has eclipsed the 100 career receptions mark ️" Ohio State captioned the post.
Smith finished Saturday's win with eight receptions for 81 yards and one touchdown. With this incredible performance, Smith now has 28 receptions for 396 yards and four scores through four games this season.
This comes after his outstanding freshman year in 2024. In Ohio State's run to a College Football Playoff National Championship victory, Smith caught 76 passes for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns. This led to the All-America selection.
As the top-ranked team in the country, Ohio State will face the Minnesota Golden Gophers next Saturday, as Smith looks to continue his incredible career.
