Ohio State Buckeyes stay hot with a major recruiting win over the SEC right after beating the UCLA Bruins

Any time the Ohio State Buckeyes get a night game in The Shoe, it turns into a big recruiting event in Columbus. That was the case on Saturday evening when the Buckeyes handed the UCLA Bruins a 48–10 loss.

Ohio State hosted a number of official and unofficial visitors from both the 2026 and 2027 classes. On Saturday, four-star 2027 safety Eli Johnson committed during his visit, giving the Buckeyes a big addition in the junior class. Now, Ohio State has even more reason to celebrate on the recruiting front.

Ohio State beats out Texas and Tennessee for elite defender

The Buckeyes have added Buford (GA) four-star EDGE Dre Quinn to the 2026 class, as he announced his commitment Sunday morning. Quinn was once committed to Clemson before reopening his recruitment on Sept. 25. Tennessee and Texas were the other two schools seriously in the mix to land Quinn.

Ohio State needed another true pass rusher in the 2026 class, with four-star Khary Wilder being the only other EDGE currently committed. Quinn provides the Buckeyes with a 6-foot-4, 228-pound pass rusher who still has plenty of room to grow. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Quinn is the No. 391 overall player in the class and the No. 36 EDGE. He holds nearly 40 offers from major programs across the country.

The Buckeyes are now up to 26 commitments in the 2026 class, and they aren’t done quite yet. November was always expected to be a big month for Ohio State in terms of flipping commitments, and it has played out that way. Ideally, the Buckeyes hope to add at least two more blue-chip players before the class is finalized. One name to keep an eye on next is Florida Gators cornerback commit CJ Bronaugh.
