Ohio State Buckeyes throw their hat in a major recruitment rather late and it is paying off already

The Ohio State Buckeyes picked up their 13th commitment last week when four-star cornerback Jordan Thomas pledged to play in Columbus.

Thomas’ commitment gave the Buckeyes their second cornerback in the class, joining fellow four-star Jakob Weatherspoon.

Ohio State is expected to take at least three cornerbacks in this cycle after landing five-star Devin Sanchez in the previous class. Now, the Buckeyes have entered the mix for another notable target at the position and have a legitimate chance to land him. Ohio State’s cornerback depth has become a strength and there are no signs of that slowing down.

Ohio State in the Mix for Three-Star CB Danny Odem

Tim Walton’s cornerback group is now pursuing three-star CB Danny Odem out of The First Academy (FL), who recently received an offer from Ohio State. Odem had previously released a top-eight list, but after the Buckeyes entered the picture, his recruitment expanded.

“The top eight just turned into a top nine,” Odem told Rivals’ John Garcia Jr. “They’re the national champions. Their brand is B.I.A., Best in America, so you have to be one of them to even get that offer. That felt great.”

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Odem is the No. 33 cornerback and No. 449 overall prospect in the class of 2026. At 6-foot-2, Odem brings desirable length to the boundary and already holds 50 offers from programs around the country to play football at the next level.

Ohio State is working on getting Odem on campus for an official visit—a crucial step in his recruitment. If the Buckeyes can make that happen, they could be in strong position to land him in the end.
