The Oklahoma City Thunder have shown that they can not only survive, but thrive without one of their highest-paid players.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are looking even more formidable this season compared to their title-winning campaign, now sitting 9-1 across their first 10 games.

The Thunder have improved statistically since last season, and look like they can be the first team to win back-to-back NBA championships.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander claimed the Thunder are even better this season – a statement that should terrify the rest of the NBA.

But what’s even more impressive is that the Thunder are doing all of this without one of their best players – Jalen Williams.

OKC Thunder have 21-1 record without Jalen Williams over the last two seasons

Since the start of last season, Jalen Williams has been unavailable for 22 games. This speaks to just how consistent the star can be.

However, when Williams is absent, the Thunder don’t seem to miss him. Over these 22 games, the Thunder have a staggering 21-1 record.

The one loss came this past week, when the Portland Trail Blazers stunned the Thunder in one of the biggest upsets so far this season.

Given that the Thunder signed Williams to a $240 million extension this past summer, this could be a sign that he isn’t untouchable in any trade talks.

Should the Thunder feel like they need to shed some salary space to accommodate newer stars, the Thunder could trade Jalen Williams, and not lose much in the process.

Who can stop the Oklahoma City Thunder this season?

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s 9-1 start to the season has taught fans two things. First, the Thunder are a nearly unstoppable side on their day.

And second, the Thunder are not invincible, as we learned this past week. The second lesson is what many teams in the NBA will try to draw hope from.

But if the Thunder can, in fact, be stopped, which team is best equipped to stop them? The Denver Nuggets might be the Thunder’s biggest threat , at least according to Mark Daigneault.

The rest of the NBA’s top teams should look at their own rosters and performances and try to understand what they need to do to vanquish the reigning NBA champions.
