The Oklahoma Sooners have pulled off a major recruiting win.
Elite in-state offensive tackle Cooper Hackett has officially flipped his commitment from Texas Tech to Oklahoma, becoming the third pledge of the Sooners 2027 class.
Hackett joins Luke Wilson as the second offensive tackle committed to Oklahoma in this cycle.
Hackett is a highly decorated prospect.
According to the 247Sports Composite Player Rankings, he is the No. 10 overall recruit nationally in the 2027 cycle, a top-three offensive tackle, and the top player in the state of Oklahoma.
The 247Sports Network’s panel of national experts ranks him even higher, placing him at No. 9 overall, a top-two tackle nationally, and the top in-state talent.
Earlier this fall, Hackett had committed to Texas Tech after the Red Raiders made a late surge in his recruitment.
Oklahoma, however, remained confident in their ability to win him over.
That process accelerated this fall when Hackett visited Norman for the Sooners’ marquee matchup against Michigan.

Witnessing the team secure a huge win in a high-energy atmosphere left a strong impression.
Hackett returned for Oklahoma’s SEC opener, watching the Sooners take down Auburn.
That series of experiences — combined with family discussions — ultimately persuaded Hackett to stay home and join the Sooners, giving Oklahoma a monumental boost in the early stages of their 2027 class.
With Hackett now on board, Oklahoma strengthens an already promising offensive line group and adds a potential cornerstone to a class that could define the program for years to come.
