All things considered, Audi Crooks was one of the most coveted players in the Women’s College Basketball transfer portal. Many teams were in play, but the former Iowa State Cyclones star ultimately chose to stay in the Big 12 conference.
Crooks signed with the Oklahoma State Cowgirls and head coach Jacie Hoyt. She reportedly is set to make $1.4 million in her NIL deal as no official number has been released.
For Hoyt and the Cowgirls, Crooks is a game-changer. She was second in Division I Women’s College Basketball in points per game (25.8) and in field goal percentage (.649) last season. For perspective, Oklahoma State’s leading scorer last season averaged 13.6 points per game.
The two-time AP All-American made her mark with Iowa State in her three seasons. Crooks is first in school history in points per game (22.8), second in points (2,256), and third in field goal percentage (.611).
Shifting back to Oklahoma State, Hoyt looks to capitalize on her 24-10 record last season and Women’s NCAA Tournament appearance. Hoyt also added another star player to play alongside Crooks this upcoming season.
Guard Liv McGill, formerly of the Florida Gators, joins the Cowgirls as she was second in the SEC with 22.5 points per game last season.
The duo of Crooks and McGill could be a force not just in Big 12, but in all of Division I Women’s College Basketball. For fans in Stillwater, it could be a magical season for the Cowgirls.
