The 2025 college football season officially kicks off for the Oregon Ducks on Saturday, August 30, when they host the Montana State Bobcats at Autzen Stadium. Fresh off a Big Ten title and a College Football Playoff appearance, the Ducks enter the year with high expectations — and oddsmakers see little drama in their opener.

Betting Lines Tilt Strongly Toward Oregon

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Oregon opens as a 27.5-point favorite over Montana State. The Ducks also carry massive moneyline odds of –4500, while Montana State is a long shot at +1600. The projected over/under for the matchup is 56.5 points, hinting at a high-scoring contest.

The gap reflects the difference between the FBS and FCS levels. With one of the nation’s most talented rosters, Oregon is built to compete for another playoff spot. Montana State, while a powerhouse in the FCS, is still viewed as a tier below.

That said, the Bobcats aren’t just another early-season cupcake. They enter 2025 ranked No. 2 in the FCS preseason poll after finishing 15–1 last season, capped by a trip to the FCS National Championship Game. Montana State fell short in a 35–32 thriller against perennial powerhouse North Dakota State, proving they can hang with the best at their level.

What to Expect

Oregon’s talent advantage, especially at Autzen, makes them a safe bet to control this game from the start. However, Montana State’s physical style and championship experience could allow them to test the Ducks early before depth and speed take over.
