Johnell Davis has a home after going unselected in the 2025 NBA Draft. The former FAU/Arkansas guard will join the Orlando Magic for the NBA Summer League next month in Las Vegas, per Jon Chepkevich of DraftExpress.
Davis, 24, spent the first four seasons of his collegiate career at FAU before transferring to Arkansas to play under John Calipari for his final season of eligibility. He became one of the best guards in college basketball during his junior campaign in 2022-23, helping lead the Owls to a Final Four appearance. That season, Davis averaged 13.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
The following season, he posted a career-high 18.2 points per game. Davis entered the transfer portal after the 2023-24 season. In his lone season in Fayetteville, Davis averaged 12.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
Davis dealt with a wrist injury for the majority of the season but showed up when it mattered most throughout the NCAA Tournament. He scored a season-high 30 points in the Razorbacks’ 85-83 Sweet 16 defeat to Texas Tech.
“This journey — it’s been an amazing journey,” Davis said in March. “If somebody asked me to do it over again, I’d do it all over again. That’s how, fun it is. Went through my ups and downs and just stayed the course, and I came out.”
Davis will look to crack the Magic’s roster. Orlando has one of the brightest futures in the league, building around Paolo Banchero, Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs and the recently acquired Desmond Bane.
