In an exciting turn of events, former Kentucky Volleyball player, Azhani Tealer, has been selected 19th overall in the third round of the 2023 Pro Volleyball Federation collegiate draft. Tealer will be joining the Orlando Valkyries, where she will unite with fellow UK Alumna, Kaz Brown.

The PVF season is set to commence on Friday, January 26, 2024, with the regular season extending until May 11. The playoffs will then begin in mid-May, adding an extra layer of intensity to the competition.

Tealer’s exceptional talent and dedication to the sport have not gone unnoticed. In 2023, she was named to the All-Southeastern Conference Team, an accolade earned for the fifth time in her career. This impressive achievement places her among the select few to receive such recognition from the league’s coaches. Moreover, Tealer is now the first known SEC athlete to win and play in five consecutive SEC championships. Kentucky’s consecutive SEC title wins have now reached an impressive seven.

Hailing from Grand Prairie, Texas, Tealer’s outstanding performance on the court has been evident throughout her tenure at UK. In her fifth year with the Wildcats, she averaged 2.26 kills per set, leading the team with a remarkable .407 hitting percentage. Additionally, Tealer showcased her defensive prowess, averaging 0.93 blocks per set. Her contributions on both offense and defense resulted in a total of 279 points scored throughout the season. Notably, her average of 2.76 points per set surpassed that of any other middle blocker in the SEC during conference-only matches in 2023.

Tealer’s selection in the PVF draft highlights her immense talent and potential. As she joins the Orlando Valkyries, fans can expect her to continue showcasing her skills and making significant contributions to the team’s success.
