Outkast has officially entered the soccer world with the debut of its soccer jersey. The hip-hop duo of Big Boi and Andre 3000 has partnered with MUNDIAL Magazine to release their first official soccer jersey, celebrating the 25th anniversary of their album Stankonia.
The limited edition Stankonia F.C. capsule can be found here, and it blends the album’s black-and-white visuals with soccer-inspired style across a jersey, hoodie, and two shirts. The gear arrived ahead of Outkast’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.
It made sense for Outkast to release a soccer jersey, given the group’s Atlanta roots. The city has become a big place for soccer as the MLS team, Atlanta United, won the MLS Cup in 2018. Additionally, Atlanta is one of the host cities for the 2026 World Cup.
“This is more than just a game,” Union City Mayor Vince Williams told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution earlier this year. “The World Cup represents global unity, resilience, and the power of sport to bring together people of every background, belief, and border. And I can think of no better region to host such a momentous event than ours — diverse, dynamic, and deeply rooted in community.”
Big Boi is a big soccer fan, as he’s supported Atlanta United since the team debuted in 2017. “We have a dope baseball team, a dope football team, and now a dope soccer team,” he said at the time, per MLSSoccer.com. “Soccer is an international sport; it’s global. So to be a part of that worldwide puzzle, it’s great to be that inclusive. And once again, Atlanta is right there at the front.”
Outkast was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this weekend, and the ceremony was held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. The duo began performing in 1992 and produced three No. 1 songs (“Ms. Jackson,” “Hey Ya!,” and “The Way You Move”). Outkast released six studio albums, and five of them peaked in the top two of the charts. The group earned 16 Grammy nominations and won six, including Album of the Year in 2004.
