A couple top recruits from Western Pennsylvania’s WPIAL traveled south for WVU’s showdown with Iowa State.

2026 star athlete Matt Sieg and edge Reston Lehman are in Morgantown to experience the festivities of the Coal Rush atmosphere and then will attend the game tonight.

While West Virginia has been pursuing Sieg for awhile and he also visited for the season opener and was at the Backyard Brawl in Pittsburgh, Lehman’s trip south comes just days after he received an official offer from the Mountaineers.

Lehman (6-foot-3, 225 pounds), a star member of the Peters Township defense, revealed that he’s been talking with WVU outside linebackers coach Victor Cabral recently while announcing his offer on social media.

Lehman’s West Virginia came just a few days after he received one from Pitt. After picking up an offer from Eastern Michigan, Reston Lehman earned his first Power Four offer from Boston College the following day on Sept. 19.

The 6-foot-4, 230-pound prospect also has offers from Boston College, Eastern Michigan, Akron, Buffalo, Miami (OH) and Central Michigan.

As for Sieg, he showed why the WVU football staff is so high on him with his latest monster performance on Friday night. The WPIAL quarterback scored six total touchdowns while leading Fort Cherry to a 49-34 win over Bishop Canevin.

Two of Sieg’s big plays of the night included a 61-yard touchdown pass to open up the scoring and a 37-yard touchdown run to put his team back in front of the back and forth game.

Even though most programs are recruiting Sieg as an athlete, and likely a defensive back or safety, his continued success offensively shows his true athleticism. Sieg, a 2026 prospect, is a consensus four-star and ranked as one of Pennsylvania’s top players on every major recruiting outlet, most notably No. 3 by 247 Sports.

As far as West Virginia’s chances to land such a highly coveted prospect, Sieg’s most recent trip to Morgantown was for WVU’s season opener against Penn State. Sieg has offers from Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Penn State, Pitt, Syracuse, USC, Wisconsin and many others.
