Paramount Global is set to cease broadcasting of five MTV UK channels on December 31.
"An official announcement is likely coming but the last air date is New Year's Eve," a source revealed to The Sun. "The channel is a victim of the rise of streaming."
The five channels that will be cut are MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV and MTV Live.
Former MTV VJ Simone Angel told BBC News she's "really sad."
"I’m a little bit in disbelief, and I know it’s been a long time coming," she added. "MTV was the place where everything came together. So it really does break my heart."
The business decision comes as viewing trends have shifted away from cable with many music fans watching music videos on platforms such as YouTube.
News break earlier this year that Paramount was doing away with the production arm of MTV UK.
"Everyone at MTV is gutted. To say there has been a bloodbath of cuts would be an understatement," a source told The Sunin August. "Staff are in tears as some have been there for decades."
After Paramount merged with Skydance, Varietyreported that the company was "poised to enact deep staffing cuts across its various divisions."
"The layoffs are expected to take place by early November and will affect between 2,000 to 3,000 employees, though the numbers could vary," a source told the outlet in August. "The timing aligns with when Paramount is scheduled to report its third quarter 2025 earnings."
