As expected, Parma have formally announced the arrival of Christian Ordonez from Velez Sarsfield in a deal worth €8.5m.
The midfielder landed on Italian soil this week and underwent his medical, so was able to put pen to paper today on a five-year contract.
“I am very happy to be here,” he told the official Parma website.
“It is marvellous to be in a place where so many important Argentinean players made history. Since I arrived, I felt very much at home and am happy that I chose Parma.”
Ordonez had made the decision back in the January transfer window, but the deal with Velez Sarsfield was dependent on Parma securing their Serie A status.
They achieved that on the last day of the season and can therefore begin planning for next term.
However, that will not be under coach Cristian Chivu, who has agreed a two-year contract to take over at Inter instead.
Midfielder Ordonez turns 21 next month and is a product of the Velez Sarsfield youth academy.
