Louisville, Kentucky – The University of Louisville men’s tennis team has just announced the signing of Enrique Cerrato Pena, who will be joining the Cardinals’ roster in January. Pena, who hails from Bogota, Colombia, brings a wealth of experience and talent to the team, having competed at the highest level in the sport.

Head coach Rodrigo da Silva expressed his excitement about the new signing, stating, “We are super excited to add Enrique to our team this year. He has been playing and competing at the highest level, and he will bring a lot of experience to our roster.”

Pena currently holds an ATP singles ranking of 1475, and he was previously ranked as high as 85 in the junior world ranking. In June of this year, his best ATP ranking reached 1235. Additionally, Pena boasts an impressive record of 10 professional wins in 2023 across the ITF, ATP, and Davis Cup levels.

Pena’s success extends beyond the professional circuit, as he has also claimed multiple ITF championships in South America. He is the singles champion of J5 Bolivia, as well as the singles and doubles champion of J4 Ecuador and J3 Colombia. Pena has made significant strides in his career, earning prestigious titles and reaching the quarterfinals and semifinals in various tournaments.

With his track record of accomplishments, Pena’s signing marks a major addition to the University of Louisville men’s tennis team. His experience and talent will undoubtedly strengthen the roster as they prepare for future competitions.
