Penn State Is Reportedly Changing Name Of Beaver Stadium Field

Few college football programs are as steeped in tradition as Penn State. From the uniforms to the White Outs, change isn't really in the DNA of the Nittany Lions' culture.

But according to The Inside Zone's Matt Fortuna, the school is set to rename the field at Beaver Stadium as part of a major naming rights partnership.

Per Fortuna: "Penn State is set to name Beaver Stadium’s field West Shore Home after a landmark agreement. The Board of Trustees is meeting today to vote on the recommendation of West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium." Adding, "West Shore Home's founder and CEO is 1999 PSU grad B.J. Werzyn."

That notion has since been approved by the powers that be in Happy Valley and the Pennsylvania-based home remodeling company will reportedly commit $50 million to the school over the next 15 years — starting in 2025.

"We are incredibly grateful to B.J., P.J. [Werzyn] and West Shore Home for this game-changing gift as their commitment to Penn State Athletics and the institution will have a lasting impact on our student-athletes, fans and community," Nittany Lions AD Pat Kraft said in a statement.

"As an alumnus of our great University and a business owner in Central Pennsylvania, B.J. understands the critical role that Beaver Stadium plays in our community, as well as the importance of preserving the great traditions of Penn State while helping us build a strong future. We are thankful for the Werzyn family and West Shore Home for their generosity and dedication to Penn State."

West Shore Home's sizable eight-figure check is reportedly the second-largest private donation in PSU history next to Bills/Sabres owner Terry Pegula contributing $102 million to the university's hockey program back in 2012.

Penn State is currently in the middle of a massive $700 million renovation of its iconic stadium which is on-track to be completed in a couple of years.

And when it opens, the field will be going by a new name that Lions fans will get to call home on Saturdays in the fall.
