Penn State set to square off against two elite QB-developing programs in race for elite passing prospect

The race for four-star 2027 quarterback Keegan Croucher has reached its next logical point before it's commitment time. The top-10 quarterback has chopped his list to just three teams, and the Penn State Nittany Lions made the cut. Joining Penn State are Oregon and Ole Miss.

Croucher, 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds, made it official as this week began that his 2025 season will be spent looking for the right ecosystem and environment for him to develop. Here's what he told Rivals about Penn State's recruitment strategy:

“What I like about Penn State a lot is that they build the offense around the QB. I’ve been there 4 times now, and I know a lot of the people in the program. I’m in constant contact with them as well. It is also only a 4 hour drive from my hometown.”

“There’s no order right now,” Croucher previously told Rivals. “They’re all doing a great job. Those three schools are all pretty similar, but they each have their differences.”

Instead of coming to the whiteout showdown against Oregon in late September, he’ll be attending the Indiana matchup on Nov. 8. He’s excited to visit all three campuses, and admits being the lone QB in the class matters.

“I want to get to all three of those games. They’re waiting for me, they’re really pushing hard for me, and they’re not going to take any other quarterback besides me…“I can commit any time, but most likely after the season. The biggest thing when I commit is who I have the best relationship with and where I get the best development as a player. I want a place that feels like home.”
