Coming off of a big win in Maryland, the Penn State Nittany Lions will be hungry for another victory as they take on the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday. If they are successful, this win could mean more than just another tally on their record.

Penn State vs. Michigan Series History

This game will be the Nittany Lions’ 27th meeting with the Wolverines. Penn State trails Michigan 10-16, but the teams have split the last six games, each tallying 3 victories. Last year in Ann Arbor, the Nittany Lions fell 41-17, and they are looking for revenge this year.

The Wolverines are having a powerful season with a 9-0 overall record and a 6-0 Big Ten record after stomping on Purdue last weekend 41-13. They racked up 445 yards and helped Purdue to 269 yards. Michigan is ranked fifth in the nation in scoring offense, 42nd in total offense, 44th in passing offense, and 50th in rushing offense. The team ranks first in the nation in scoring defense, total defense, and passing defense, as well as ninth in rushing defense.

But the Nittany Lions are not far behind them with an 8-1 record on the season. And this team has been putting up huge numbers this season. Penn State’s 51 points at Maryland last weekend marked their third game with 50+ points this season. They held the Terrapins to -49 rushing yards (yes, that was not a typo), and they lead the country in rushing defense, only allowing 60.3 rushing yards per game on average. These numbers will prove difficult for Michigan this weekend.

Penn State will welcome Michigan to Beaver Stadium in University Park on Saturday for this Big 10 showdown. The game is set to air on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff, the teams’ third appearance this season.
