Penn State Wrestling: Braeden Davis Makes Triumphant Return

Penn State wrestling coach Cael Sanderson said earlier this week Braeden Davis was in the best shape he’s been in all season and his first match of the Big Ten Championships could have been a good indicator that Cael was right.

Davis, who has been battling injuries all season and missed the team’s last dual meet against American Feb. 21, still earned a No. 4 seed at Big Tens and drew 13th-seeded Andrew Hampton of Michigan State.

The match wasn’t much of a contest.

Davis dominated from the jump and ended up getting an 11-2 major decision. It was a solid way to follow what 125-pounder Luke Lilledahl did minutes earlier, which was get a pin in his Big Ten Championships debut.

Now, Davis will move onto the quarterfinals, where he’ll take on Rutgers’ Dylan Shawver, seeded fifth. Davis got a decision over Shawver in Piscataway earlier this season.
